19-year-old Class X Punjab topper, depressed over low marks in NEET, commits suicide

Jagraon: 19-year-old Mansi Sharma who was a Class X topper of Punjab State and tehsil topper of class XII allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on a ceiling fan to death in her room on Sunday afternoon. 

Mansi Sharma's father Jagdish Pal Sharma and mother Kamal Sharma residents of Gali no.1 of Geeta Colony. They both are teachers in the government school on Tehsil Road.

SHO Nidhan Singh, who reached the spot immediately after incident, took the body to the civil hospital for post-mortem. Mansi Sharma was the All Punjab Topper in class 10th in 2015-16 and Tehsil Topper of class 12th in 2017-18. After this she started preparing for Neet to become a doctor.

Police are suspecting the student was depressed because of poor performance in NEET examinations. They believe her low marks were the reason behind taking the dire step. The police is investigating every angle of the case.
