Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh Appeals Shop Owners To Give Away Free Masks On Every Purchase.

4 days after the CM’s announcement ] concerning the opening of the sweets shops in the state on the eve of Rakshabandhan despite the Sunday lockdown, he has appealed sweet shop owners to give away free masks on every purchase.
DCs of the respective districts have been issued advisories to take the CMs message forward to every local shop owner. The government’s Idea behind the free distribution of masks is to popularise the usage of masks amid this pandemic.
Punjab was one the first few states to mandate face masks whenever one had to venture in public. Presently penalty of Rs. 500 is being levied on those who are violating the novel rule in Punjab.  Despite this, several similar violations are being reported from many districts and the Chief Minister has said the amount can be hiked further if people do not behave responsibly.
The Chief Minister has recently directed the Health Department to install mask vending machines at bus stands and other such public places.
