Joe Biden beats trump to become 46th US President; Kamala Harris elected as first woman Vice-President

Washington: Democrat Joe Biden has defeated President Donald Trump on Saturday to become the 46th President of the United States. With this, Kamala Harris is elected as the first Indian-Origin woman vice president of the United States.

In his first address to the US as a President, Joe Biden pledged to become a President who "doesn't see Red and Blue states", but a United States. He said he is honoured that Americans have chosen him to lead the country.

Joe Biden Tweeted,"The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."
According to Edison Research, Biden had a 273 to 214 lead in the state-by-state Electoral College vote that determines the winner, having won Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes to put him over the 270 he needed to secure the presidency.
